The adventures described here all took place after the infamous 9/11 downing of the twin towers, the crashing into the Pentagon, and the passengers crashing the plane in Pennsylvania. Coincidentally, it is also after I retired from business, because before then, there was never enough time for adventures. The sections named "To Mexico" and "Second Trip" deserve complete narration and pictures of their own.
In 2004 we were living in Oak Ridge North, Texas. This is a small city located about 22 miles north of downtown Houston. In April we drove to Phoenix, AZ to attend the 50th anniversary reunion of Aviation Cadet Pilot Training Class 54G. From there Wilma and I joined Jim and June Annis, and Len and Judy Dasbach on a trip to the Grand Canyon. We drove to Williams, AZ and spent the night at the railroad hotel. The next morning, after watching a wild west shootout, we boarded the first class coach of the train. We had a great 2 1/2 hour ride to the canyon and thoroughly enjoyed our two day stay at the hotel on the south rim of the Canyon. On the train ride back, we were stopped and boarded by a bunch of "desperados" while we enjoyed our drinks and the scenery.Canyon Trip Gallery. It was a classy and fun vacation.
